Link Friday - [lack of Ultimate] - Video game, useless fitness, and survival

My favourite links this week have little to do with Ultimate:

  • The UFC Video game is coming out in May. Here's a look the fighting styles in the game.
  • The top 10 useless fitness apparatuses.
  • A new book on surviving the apocalypse is reviewed here.

The pointless exercise equipment article was entertaining, but I couldn't help but notice that most of their counter-recommendations were pretty crap as well. You're not going to be that much better off spending hours on an elliptical than you will be using one of those as-seen-on-TV specials.

One thing that kind of bugged me is that some pretty respected trainers (Michael Boyle, for one) are actually huge fans of those little foot-frisbee gliding things and use them with professional athletes.

While the piece was entertaining, and probably mostly correct, I doubt the reviewers on the site really know what they're talking about when it comes to fitness.

Amazing link on the fitness equipment. We got one of those vibrating belt machines from a garage sale when I was a kid and it was so much fun. Also, despite its ridiculous nature, the treadmill bike is a pretty cool piece of equipment.
